Emergency call-out charges
An emergency attendance commonly starts around £90–£180 before substantial parts or extended labour. Overnight, holiday and long-distance visits may be higher. Always confirm what time is included in the call-out.
When not to wait
Burning smells, smoke, sparking, exposed live parts or repeated loss of power can indicate a serious hazard. Do not touch damaged equipment. If there is fire or immediate danger, leave the property and call 999.
Before the electrician arrives
If it is safe, note which circuit or appliance was in use and whether a breaker has tripped. Clear access to the consumer unit, but do not remove covers or attempt electrical repairs yourself.
